East Baton Rouge Parish Library System Selects V-smart

Framingham, MA, April 8, 2009. Infor announced today that the East Baton Rouge Parish Library in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has selected V-smart, Infor's web-based integrated library system, to offer its 386,000 users improved access to the library's collections of more than 2 million items.

“The system's scalable and flexible design provides the Library with new and exciting ways to offer users access to a wide array of information resources. The Library will be integrating a subject based curriculum for local schools, for example, utilizing search tree technology in the Web OPAC. This feature, along with self-service options, rate and review, alerts, RSS news feeds, and more, creates a functionally rich online environment for users that positions the Library as a true information hub in the community,” says Ellen Isaacson, general manager, Infor Library and Information Solutions North America.

Along with V-smart, the East Baton Rouge Parish Library will be implementing Infor's suite of information management applications including the V-spaces federated search application, the V-insight statistical analysis portal, as well V-link, Infor's OpenURL Resolver. Combined, these applications constitute a comprehensive solution that addresses the diverse information management needs of library staff and users alike.

Library Director David Farrar notes: “With V-smart, the East Baton Rouge Parish Library will be able to easily define new workflows for staff and manage information in multiple databases. The East Baton Rouge Parish Library is comprised of a main library, 12 regional branch libraries and a bookmobile. With a staff of more than 400 employees, the Library is open a cumulative total of 892 hours weekly in these 13 outlets. Additional outreach service is provided on a regular basis to area schools, community centers, retirement centers, and the Juvenile Detention Center.
